What Is A Marketing Funnel?

No matter what stage you are at in your business, you must have an effective marketing strategy in place in order to create a steady flow of revenues.

Your marketing funnel is designed to have the same effect as an everyday kitchen funnel. People enter your funnel and along the way they are 'filtered and sorted' through various products and services.

The purpose of your marketing funnel is to attract the interest of your website visitors and then over time, develop trust with them one by one, and to introduce the various parts of your business products and services to them in order to create sales.

Through your marketing funnel your customers will get to know you and your expertise. They are first introduced to you through a 'giveaway' product and then are led through the funnel to lower ticket items. Once you have proven yourself to them and have established that you are a provider of valueable information, they will move on to the next stage of the funnel to higher priced products and services.

Each step along the way is used to solidify your relationship with them, provide solutions to their problems and to increase your cash flow for your business.

Your marketing funnel should consist of 5 main key components:

1. Your Own .com Domain Name.

It all starts with your domain name. Your domain name is your 'real estate' address where customers and prospects will find you in order to do business with you.

In order to attract search engine traffic, your domain name should be keyword rich and should clearly convey what your business is about. If your first choice of domain names has been taken, then try to construct it with hyphens. Ex: attraction-marketing-funnel.com

If another business owner with a high traffic site has your original domain name choice, by hyphenating the same name, you could end up with an extra traffic flow of yoru own that might otherwise have gone to your competitor.

2. Your Lead Capture Page

The primary purpose of your lead capture page is to entice your website visitors to hand over their contact information so that you can send them future marketing messages.

Your lead capture page is the entry point of your marketing funnel. It is where everything begins. Your capture page should be constructed like a mini sales letter and should be professional in appearance.

Even though your lead capture page is used to offer a free gift, you still need to 'sell' them on the benefits of your freebie. You need to tell them why they need the information you're providing and how they will benefit from it.

3. Your Blog

Using a self-hosted Wordpress blog is the ultimate way to achieve free traffic from your search engine optimization efforts. By hosting your own blog you have full control over your monetization/advertising efforts on the site.

By including value-based content where you 'educate' your readers, you give them a reason to return to you and to become a part of your marketing funnel. Your goal on your blog should be to create a 'community' of people who support your business.

Through your blog you can 'funnel' prospects and customers through various parts of your funnel in order to monetize your efforts. Pre-sell them on the benefits of one of your affiliate products, enlist new joint venture partners to help build your business, or find business builders who want to advertise on your blog to reach a larger audience.

4. Your Autoresponder

Your autoresponder is your automated sales agent. In addtion to loading your autoresponder with your free newsletter and 'educational' content, your autoresponder will also send out automated follow up emails to your prospects and customers.

The bonus of your autoresponder is that you have the ability to send out highly personalized emails that include your prospect's first name and any other information you choose in order to make your prospect feel as if you wrote it directly to them. Personalizing your messages provides higher conversion rates.

It has been said that the average person must be exposed to your message at least 7 times before they will ever buy from you. You autoresponder allows you the priviledge of giving repeat exposure to your sales messages so you can remain fresh in your prospect or customer's mind and create sales.

5. Your YouTube Video Channel

People join people! The internet in general is a very impersonal place where people are exposed to thousands of websites and sales messages every day. In order to break through all of the 'noise' you need to create a personalized one on one experience for your prospects and customers. What better way to do that than through video marketing?!

Creating videos allows a customer or prospect to 'see' you and connect with you as if you were right there beside them. When you create several videos that are designed to educate your audience you become more valuable to them.

The benefit of creating your own YouTube video channel is that search engines prefer video to written content and will index it much quicker. Since YouTube is an authority site, it also provides more powerful backlinks to your main website.
